If you’re looking to refresh your space, we’ve put together this handy list of the newest lighting trends to watch out for in the coming year!
1) Minimalist Looks
Simplicity and minimalism have been coming to the forefront in recent years, and its shaping up to continue to be a hugely popular trend in 2022. LED lighting allows for a range of colour temperature options, letting you further enhance the atmosphere of your space and help a more subdued minimalist aesthetic shine.
Tone down more extravagant shapes with subdued colours, such as white, black and grey. Alternatively, combine simple shapes with bright primary colours and add a pop of vibrancy, and draw attention to specific areas.
Simple fixtures that emphasise a clean white shape will really help you get a handle on this design trend. The Kuros Table Lamp in Chrome with Rectangular Shade is a great example of a minimalist table lamp that will look stunning on any side table. The Mirrorstone Satin Silver Colton LED Curved Floor Lamp is proof that a minimalist design can still serve as a stunning centrepiece.
2) Cosy Cottages
For those with an eye for a more maximalist look, with a focus on a cosy and relaxed style, then French style cottage lighting is becoming particularly popular. An
Look for light fittings with classical fabric shades in warm colour palettes, with earthy tones of beige, brown and eggshell, if you want to tap into this trend. Traditional shapes with flowing arms make for a good bet! A little bit of ornamentation, such as acrylic dangling gems, can add an extra flourish, but avoid excessively opulent fittings.
The 5 Way Porcelain White Chandelier Ceiling Light has a lovely white finish and a classical chandelier shape, making it perfect for use in a kitchen. The Rocha 3 Way Chrome Chandelier with Grey Shade might be a better choice for a bedroom, as the shade gives it a more subdued lighting effect.
3) Discrete Lighting
Hidden lighting sources can add extra depth to your space, creating additional texture that is otherwise impossible to add.
If this is a trend you’d like to take advantage of, browsing our range of LED downlights for recessed models in specific is a good option, as these lights will produce a more focused beam of light. The Integral Evofire IP65 White Fire Rated Recessed Downlight With GU10 Holder And Insulation Guard is a great example of this kind of lighting.
Alternatively, LED strip lights are a great way to get some discrete lighting. They can easily be placed behind objects such as mirrors and televisions to offer up extra accentuation. We even offer up several extra services, like a free cutting and soldering service to make ordering them really simple.
4) Smart Lighting
Customising your lighting to your exact needs on a day-to-day basis is becoming a more popular trend, as smart bulbs become more accessible. Smart LED bulbs allow you to control colour, colour temperature, brightness and intensity from anywhere in your home.
This is an especially good choice for rooms you host guests in, since you can have some show-stopping party lighting one moment and more relaxed lighting the next.
Our Easilight range of bulbs such as the EasiLight E27 RGB+CCT LED Bulb will allow you to bring this smart tech into your home.
5) Eco Friendly Lighting
Rising bills are a big concern for most people, so ensuring your lighting is as eco-friendly as possible is a great way to get ahead of the curve. LED bulbs boast a 90% efficiency rate, so they use barely on watts to produce plenty of light. That makes them amazing value for money, as well as helping futureproof your home.
