IP is short for Ingress Protection and is made up of 2 numbers. The first one denotes how dust-proof a fitting is and the second suggests how waterproof it is; thus, the higher the numbers – the more secure the fitting is.
Luckily, our LED Neon Tape is all IP67 so is dust- and waterproof. Typically, IP67 strips are not waterproof after they have been cut as the chips will become exposed and water will be able to penetrate them. But our neon range is sealed with silicon glue for a water-tight finish and allows you to use it wherever you’d like.
When planning your installations, please always remember to consider the other units and elements needed. This means that your power supplies, controllers and amplifiers will also need to be waterproof, if it is not possible to keep them away from moisture.
