3 Automated Lighting Projects We Love!

Posted by Emma Reid on 28th Jun 2022

Most people who get into home automation make their start with smart lighting! Here are a few project ideas that you could get started on right away.

1)     Outdoor Strip Lighting

We all love festive lights, but let’s be honest, it’s a real faff to put them up and take them down every year! But with LED strip lights, you could have a permanent fixture on your walls that can produce any kind of light you like, all year round!

Why not turn them pink for Valentine’s Day? Red white and blue for a jubilee? You could even choose warm white light when using your outdoor spaces for a warmer and more intimate feel.

With the EasiLight range, our strip lights can become WIFI enabled, meaning you can effortlessly control them via your phone.

For this project, you’ll need…

2)     Geofenced Certainty

We’ve all had that moment where we’ve realised we’ve left the lights on as we’ve left the house! Home automation can make sure you never have to stress about this again with Geofencing.

Simply put, geofencing uses location data in your phone to tell your smart products where you are, letting them alter their behaviour based on what you need! For example, you can tell your lights to turn off as you leave the house, and turn back on when you come home.

You could even customise your routine so one or two lights are left on, giving the illusion that someone is home!

The EasiLight range is compatible with the Smart Life app, which is geofencing enabled.

3)     Multi-Purpose Rooms

A lot of us have rooms that serve multiple purposes. Home offices that are also media rooms are an example, as are kitchens that are connected to dining rooms.

This is great for saving space, but it does lead to a problem of ambience. Different spaces require different kinds of lighting. You don’t want relaxing warm white light in an office, for example, but you won’t want clinical cool white in a sitting room.

Smart lighting is often associated with lots of colourful RGB lighting, but you can also get bulbs that let you swap between colour temperatures, which tends to be more practical for every day use!
