7 Must-Have Pieces of LED Furniture
Posted by Richard Clarke on 8th Aug 2013
There's no doubt about it, LED technology is changing the way we think about lighting. Before the advent of low energy LED lighting, homeowners were forced to limit their use of light. Incandescent and fluorescent lighting were simply too expensive and impractical to use for anything other than general purpose illumination.
Now, homeowners are free to illuminate without restraint. Take LED Strip Lights for instance. With their flexible and compact design they can be used virtually anywhere. Under cabinets, bookcases, pelmets, plinths; all can be achieved simply and effectively thanks to LEDs.
But why stop there? With LED Furniture you could have your entire home glowing... not to mention changing colour! If the thought of plugging in your furniture still seems strange, just take a look at some of the examples that the internet currently has to offer.
1. LED-illuminated Sofa. An eye-catching range of remote-controlled, LED-illuminated sofas from Italian company Colico. These change colour at the touch of a button, similar to our RGB Colour Changing LED Strip Lights. Via freshome.
2. Bright Woods Collection. For a more traditional feel, try an LED stool from Avanzini Group's Bright Woods collection. Created by Italian designer Giancarlo Zema, these combine a traditional wooden finish with modern LED lights to create a very unique-looking range of furniture.
3. Luminous Bench. Brighten up your garden with a glow in the dark garden bench. Admittedly, it looks a bit tacky, but its guaranteed to be the talking point at your next garden party. Current asking price? $6,500. O_O Via electronics weekly.
4. Occasional LED Furniture. Planning an event? Make it truly unforgettable by hiring some LED furniture. There are now loads of furniture-hire companies specialising in occasional LED-lit furniture. Barstools, cubes, bars, dance floors and even glowing ice buckets; you name it, they've got it!
5. LED Pillow Clock. Or how about a luminous LED pillow. Great for sitting up in bed and reading a book on an evening. The pillow can even be programmed to wake you up gently in the morning. Via technabob.
6. Colour Changing Table. Now if this isn't cool, I don't know what is. Vaguely reminiscent of the classic arcade game Tetris, this table features an array of LED panels that change colour. Check out the video on Youtube.
7. Stardust LED Furniture. Another Italian company, Meritalia, has introduced their Stardust range of LED furniture. These include sofas, pillows, armchairs and footstools, all subtly illuminated with LED lights. The furniture is made from a lightweight packing material, making them very easy to move around. Of course, if you don't like the idea of changing your furniture, you can always use one of our RGB Colour Changing LED Strip Light kits to customise your existing furniture.
