Let The Jubi-LED Celebrations Begin!
Posted by Richard Clarke on 1st Jun 2012
A wave of anglophilia is set to hit Britain this weekend, as millions of people all over the country prepare to hang out bunting and take to the streets in celebration of the Diamond Jubilee – the 60th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth’s reign.
Unless you’ve been living under a cave, you will have probably heard about this, and are preparing for the long weekend ahead.
The celebrations around the country are expected to easily surpass last year’s Royal Wedding, with an estimated 6 million Britons preparing to throw parties – that’s 12% of the population!
It shows that we Brits haven’t lost our sense of pride – either that or we just can’t resist an excuse to party!
Local councils all across England and Wales have been swamped by road closure applications, while supermarket giant Sainsbury’s have reported sales of some 364 miles of bunting.
Over the weekend, London’s Tower Bridge will be lit up in “diamond white” using its brand new LED lighting system – inaugurated on the evening of May 30th. The ceremony was attended by Mayor of London Boris Johnson, who also did the honours of flipping the switch.
The very same LED lights will be used later this summer to turn the bridge into a giant symbol for the 2012 Olympic Games.
To help you get into the spirit, Wholesale LED Lights will be offering a selection of its most popular LED lights for a special Jubi-LED price for one weekend only – with all prices ending in 60. This will include items from our GU10 LED spotlight, LED downlight and LED floodlight ranges.
To find these products, you can either follow the links from our homepage, or keep your eyes peeled for the jubilee paraphernalia dotted around the site.
This offer is only valid until June 6th and while stocks last.
Remember, if you plan on using lights as part of your celebrations, make sure they’re low energy LEDs. Using just 10% of the energy an equivalent halogen would use, they’ll save you money on your electricity bills, and help the environment in the process.
They’re also great long term purchases, with most of our LEDs lasting up to 50,000 hours – that’s 2 times the lifespan of a fluorescent bulb and 20 times the lifespan of an incandescent light!
Our colour changing RGB LED bulbs would be a really good choice – they retrofit straight into your existing fitting and come with red, blue and white settings, making them perfect for the occasion.
Let us know what you’re up to over the weekend and how you plan to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee!
