Protection From The Elements

One of the things that this Mean Well 240V LED transformer comes with out of the box is IP65 protection. But what does this mean?

IP ratings are comprised of 2 parts – these are simply the 2 digits of the IP number, and each one corresponds to something different.

The first digit provides a measure of the level of protection against foreign bodies, with the second digit doing the same but for moisture.

With that in mind, let’s apply this to our transformer. It has an IP rating of 65. The 6 means it is completely dust proof, and the 5 means it can withstand light jets of water from any direction.

With this, you can use the transformer outside, as it can stand up to the worst that nature can throw at it.

Finishing The Setup

Without a set of strip lights to use, this LED transformer is merely an overpriced paperweight. It works with any of our 12V single colour tape or our 12V RGB colour strips, but if you’re not sure which one to go for, we’ve got some recommendations.

If you’re looking for single colour use, a great option would be our 14.4W LED Strip Light. At 14.4W/m, you could have up to 15m of this tape using our transformer. It will shine with a brightness of 1020 lumens too, giving you plenty of horsepower to play with.

A range of colour are available, along with a choice of IP65 or IP68 nano ratings, giving you freedom to use it anywhere you want and for whatever purpose.

We have a similar RGB strip light that also uses 14.4W/m. Similarly too, it will also shine with a max brightness of 1020 lumens, however, the RGB LEDs allow it to give off multiple colours – adding an extra dimension to your lighting.

You’re fully entitled to a refund or exchange within 14 days of purchase if you decide that you no longer want your transformer.
