GU10 LED 80 SMD (left) And GU10 LED 48 SMD (right)We’re happy to introduce two brand new additions to our GU10 LED bulbs range: the GU10 LED 48 SMD and GU10 LED 80 SMD.

Both of these bulbs use second generation, surface-mounted diode (SMD) technology, and deliver a surprisingly large light output for such a meagre energy requirement.

The 48 SMD (on the right) requires just 2.5 watts of electricity, but will easily replace an equivalently bright traditional 40 watt halogen bulb. Thus, you’ll save tons on your electricity bill when you do switch to the LED bulb.

Just Look How Much You Could Save:

Assuming an electricity charge of 13.75 pence per kWh (Kilowatts per hour), and running one type of each bulb for 8 hours a day for a whole year (365 days)

  • The 40W Halogen Light Bulb will use 116.80 kWhs at a cost of £16.06
  • The 2.5W GU10 Light Bulb will use 7.30 kWhs at a cost of just £1.00...for a whole year!

The 3.3W GU10 LED 80 SMD (on the left) delivers the equivalent amount of light as a 50 watt halogen, and will save you a proportionally large amount on your power consumption as with the smaller bulb.

You’ll also save a substantial amount of money on replacement bulbs when you decide to switch over to LED lighting. Both of these bulbs have life-expectancies in excess of 50,000 hours, which equates to a 17.12 lifetime if they’re used for 8 hours a day.

Compare this to the tiny 2000 hour maximum life-expectancy of an incandescent bulb, and you’ll realise there is a really difficult decision to make.

Similarly to other surface-mounted LED technologies, these two bulbs offer a wide 120° beam angle, making them suitable for all types of general purpose lighting. When deciding upon the correct light bulb to suit your particular installation, many people forget the importance of its beam angle, so choose wisely.

Customise Your Environment

Both of these LED bulbs are available in a choice of cool (6000K) and warm (3000K) colour temperatures, the 3.3W model incorporating an extra daylight white (4000K) ability. By using the colour temperature in a shrews way, you’ll be able to tailor the ambience of your room according to its function.

Many people choose the warm white variety for their living areas and bedrooms, as it provides a mellow, relaxing ambience.

The cool white’s brightness is perfect for activity-based rooms like the kitchen, as its penetrative quality provides excellent illumination for task such as cooking.

The naturalistic light of the daylight white has historically been the favourite for studies and office spaces, however, more and more people are beginning to use it in their living rooms.

These bulbs are direct, retrofit replacements for your existing halogens, so there’ll be no need to purchase all-new fittings, making them an even more desirable option should finances be an issue right now.
