The Wonderful Flexibility Of LED Strip Lights
Posted by Amit Soni on 24th Jul 2015
LED strips offer some of the most creative ways of providing illumination, as well as some of the most versatile and flexible lighting solutions.
Naturally then, you’d expect a myriad of options to be open to you – and you’d be right. We’re here to help you make sense of all the different types you can get your hands on, and the effects they create.
Single Colour
The most basic option is our single colour LED tape. It comes in 4 different wattage options, and as you’d expect a higher wattage equals a higher lumen count.
4.8W gives you 400 lumens, 7.2W results in 510 lumens, 9.6W outputs 800 lumens and 14.4W gives the highest lumen count at 1020.
They’re all available in a range of colour options, with warm white (3000K), cool white (6000K), red, green and blue amongst others.
Using your single colour LED tape in the kitchen, bathroom or even outside isn’t a problem thanks to a selection of IP ratings to choose from – IP20 (no protection), IP65 (light jets of water), IP68 (full submergible) and IP68 nano (hydrophobic silicone coated, fully submergible).
Generally these are great for subtle mood lighting, and can be used anywhere in the home. A really popular area of use is the kitchen for under cabinet lighting.
Dual Colour
RGB colour LED strip lights are where it starts to get really cool. They can switch between 16 different colours including white.
Better yet, when used with a controller, you can get creative with an array of effects – fade, strobe, flash and smooth.
These are really good for gaming or entertainment rooms, children’s bedrooms or party environments.
The potential for use becomes so much bigger with IP65, IP67, IP68 and IP68 nano ratings to pick from, so you can use them outdoors in the garden, in the fish tank, or anywhere else that takes your fancy!
You get some extra options too with 7.2W (165-510 lumens) and 14.4W (330-1020 lumens) choices. We’d recommend the 14.4W RGB colour LED tape, due to the sheer freedom you’ll have with the extra brightness.
Pixel Tape
LED pixel tape represents the ultimate in terms of what you can do with LED strip lights.
It has colour range of the RGB tape, only now the lights operate independently and can create the illusion of moving around.
This is the perfect option for commercial use. Don’t believe us? Check out footage below of Samsung using our pixel tape at the launch of their Galaxy Tablet and Gear in London back in 2013.
IP65 and IP68 rating options allow you to use them pretty much anywhere too...the sky is the limit!
Installation on all our strip lights is easy thanks to the commercial grade 3M adhesive on the back of each strip – allowing you to stick it to uneven surfaces.
Each piece of strip light can also be cut at 2.5 cm, 5cm or 10cm intervals depending on the type, giving unprecedented levels of freedom – such flexibility has never been seen before in home or commercial lighting.
Our LED tape offers a completely new way of providing illumination, with effects that are simply unachievable with conventional bulbs and tubes.
Whether you want to spice up your home lighting or add a professional touch to your office or shop, our huge range of strip lights are guaranteed to give you the effect you’re looking for.
