Integrated LED Downlights

Our Integrated LED Downlights are the perfect solution for updating your lighting and making the upgrade to low energy LED lighting. They are a simple all-in-one solution, incorporating the light, fitting and driver into a single luminaire.

What Are Integrated LED Downlights?

Integrated LED downlights are a little different to the standard downlight options you are probably used to. Traditionally a downlight fitting comes in two parts - the fitting and the bulb. Integrated LED downlights come in one part - the fitting and bulb are the same unit.

Many customers are put off by Integrated LED downlights mainly because they don't have the option to replace the bulb. This would be a nuisance if the bulbs were halogen - after all halogens only last for about 1000 hours before failing. However, LEDs last a lot longer. The average LED has a life expectancy of 50,000 hours, so you will get many years use out of your downlight before needing to change it.

A further benefit of a Integrated LED downlight is the heat sink. One of the main reasons LEDs last so long is because they generate very little heat compared to a halogen. However, the small amount of heat they do generate needs to be managed. This is where the heat sink comes in. The heat sink is designed to draw heat away from the LED and dissipate it into the air thereby keeping the LED cool.

In a standard downlight fitting, a GU10 fitting for example, the heat sink is part of the bulb. However, given that the bulb is enclosed within the fitting, the heat sink can't always do its job effectively as their is very little ventilation around the bulb (unless you buy a special type of fitting). In Integrated LED Downlights the heat sink is much larger. More importantly, it isn't enclosed.

So what does this all mean? Integrated LED downlights are a far more reliable option compared to the traditional GU10 downlight option. Rather than retrofitting an old system with a new LED bulb, you are purchasing a dedicated system designed specifically to accommodate the needs of the LED.

What Options Are Available?

We currently offer a wide range of Integrated LED downlights. By far our most popular are the fire rated ones. Since we started selling these units we have rarely seen any failures. Put simply, these are some of the best lighting units we sell combining a high quality illumination with amazing reliability.

Apart from fire rated best sellers, we also offer an extensive range of frosted, and high power LED downlights.

More recently we have introduced a range of COB LED downlights like this LuxSpot 3W Recessed LED COB Downlight Tilt, 230 Lumens. These use a chip on board (COB) LED system which closely replicates the hue and warmth of a halogen for a fraction of the energy. These have proven incredibly popular with both domestic and commercial clients.

As with most of our lighting, our Integrated LED downlights are available in two colour temperatures - warm white and cool white. Warm white gives a soft yellow glow and is suitable for 'living' areas like your living room, bedroom or dining room. Cool white gives a very bright white light and is better suited to bathrooms and kitchens.
